Participate Relentlessly
Participate Relentlessly. This has been a very present and quite honestly LIFE-CHANGING theme God has been showing me and teaching me a lot about lately. Active faith. Participating, cooperating, walking hand-in-hand, with what the Lord is already doing and what He wants to do in and through our lives. The story that really made this “click” for me is found in Isaiah 38. It is the story of King Hezekiah who became very ill and prayed to the Lord to please not let him die. The Lord hears Hezekiah’s prayer and tells him that He will add 15 more years to his life! Imagine! So Hezekiah praises God for the miracle and for all that He has done for him! But here’s where God spoke so clearly to me, in one sneaky little sentence towards the end of the story which reads, “Now Isaiah had said ‘Let them take a cake of figs and apply it to the boil, that he may recover’”(Isaiah 38:21) If you’re like me, you might be thinking figs? Boils? Ew. Weird. Why? But here is where God caught my attention and said “See, that’s your part. I can and want to perform miracles in your life. I can and want to bring healing, restoration, and redemption to your story, but you are called to ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE and USE the things I have given you!” He has ALREADY GIVEN us all that we need to carry out His purposes in our lives and to live in the ABUNDANT LIFE to which He has called us!! In my Bible study this week we talked about how FAITH IS ACTION.
Faith is stepping out and DOING what God has called you do to! It’s using what He’s already given you, it is the INCREDIBLE INVITATION to PARTNER WITH GOD in what He wants to do in your life and through your life!!! WHAT!!! Amazing!!
Sure, God can perform miracles all on His own anytime He wants, but HOW COOL is it that God invites us to be part of the story He is telling!! He invites us INTO the MIRACLE!!!
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10) That we should walk in them. That we should participate relentlessly in the greatest invitation of all time. That we should LIVE WITH GOD all the days of our lives! Now THAT is a miracle!
