Mistaken Identity

Have you ever accidentally waved to someone at the grocery store, jumping up and down to get their attention only to embarrassingly realize that it wasn't them? We mistake their identity because we aren't close enough to know the truth. It can be like that with us too sometimes.

When we aren't close enough to God's truth about who He says we are, we can mistake our identity as His sons & daughters. We can forget that He has "blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places", that He has "chosen us in him before the foundation of  the world that we should be holy and blameless before him" that he has "predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will" and that "in Him we have redemption and forgiveness according to the riches of His grace which He has lavished upon us" (Ephesians 1: 1-10)

Seriously, I could just rewrite all of Ephesians 1 here because it is chalk full of God's loving truths about who He says we are. And if I am not near to these truths, if I am not meditating on them day and night, praying them over myself, speaking God's truth daily to myself, then I

can be quick to forget my true identity in Christ Jesus and see myself as less, as unequipped, as purposeless. But friends, my heart is on fire for these truths right now, for me and for you, because our victory lies in Jesus and it starts with being firmly rooted in the absolute truth of who He says we are. The Bible is the most beautiful love letter ever written, and it is written

just for us. It is full of beautiful reminders of God's love for us, and of the truth He speaks over us as His beloved children. I pray those truths sink deep into your heart today, and into mine, that we may walk in the glorious light to which He has called us.

Today's Prayer:

Father, today I pray that Your rich truths would sink deep into our hearts,

that it would change the way in which we see ourselves and others, and that

it would strengthen us and remind us of who we are in You and that we can

walk in confidence, light, and truth because of it. In Jesus' name, Amen <3

All my love,

Nicole
