In my recent Bible study we were talking about Jesus as a teenager in the temple. His parents find him there after having lost him for three days 😳 #oops
When they finally find Jesus, he is listening and asking questions to the teachers of the temple. But Jesus wasn’t asking questions because he didn’t know, He was asking questions to teach them more, just like any good teacher would do.
Questions that dig just a little bit deeper, daring us to think just a little bit harder, and push us just a little bit further.
And it says when He did this, they were AMAZED and ASTONISHED ✨ I bet we would have been too! This got me thinking about my own prayer life and relationship with the Lord.
I believe that the Lord wants our questions, He wants us to come to Him with all of our doubts, and worries, and confusion, and ask Him whatever is in our heart. But I wonder how many times I’ve asked Jesus what questions He wants to ask me?
Because when Jesus ask questions, we are the ones who learn. His questions amaze and astonish our hearts and minds, and teach us things no earthly wisdom can. When Jesus ask the question, we listen.
So as I bring my questions before the Lord each night, my prayer and encouragement to myself and to you, is that we would also bring quiet hearts, ears to listen, and leave room to ask “Jesus, what questions do YOU want to ask ME?” Because I’m pretty sure His answers will astonish and teach us all!
“After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.” (Luke 2:46-47) 💛
